With the end of year finals, exams, and marking, Nick had worked close to sixty hours that week. By the time Father's Day rolled by, he was absolutely exhausted. He had worked late into Friday night, all of Saturday and was woken at seven am flanked by two blond twins telling him he had to get up because they were going to Atlantic City for Father's Day... and by the way, surprise! Just when Nick thought he was going to have one day he didn't have to drive to Jersey, the boys went and tapped into Jeff's energy with Father's Day plans. Hell, summer couldn't come quick enough. But it had been a great day, and the four of them had a ball at the beach spending time together. It was well worth it, even if now, after the drive home, Nick was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to move ever again.
He was slumped down on one of the comfy recliner chairs, chin almost resting down on his chest and eyes only about half open as he watched his two sons across the room on the sofa together. Through a heavy-lidded blink with a coffee nursed on his chest he even forgot to drink, Nick saw the boys crashed out together. They were all supposed to watch
The Goonies together, but just fifteen minutes in, Gabe's had lolled to the side and he fell asleep with his head on the arm rest. It was only a short while after that when Vince's eyes drooped and he was now asleep with his cheek squished against his brother's shoulder, snoring softly. Jeff was standing over then, tucking a blanket around them before he turned the volume down on the TV with the remote.
"Is this the part where we talk about Vince getting caught smoking, Gabe's detention, or the fact that our second born seems to be going through some sort of... thing?" Nick asked quietly. He hadn't had time to scratch himself that week, so discussing stuff like this had fallen by the wayside. As tired as he was, and feeling like he was about to pass out like both twins, he and Jeff really did need to make sure they were on the same page.
